Mu Shiying (Mu Shih-ying) 1912-1940

Modern fiction writer born in Zhejiang province. A graduate from the literature department of Guanghua University, Shanghai, he published his first pieces of fiction at the age of 18, and frequently contributed to the Shanghai journal Les Contemporains, becoming known as a modernist writer in the 1930s. During the War of Resistance against Japan he was chief editor of the Nationalist Daily and a supporter of the Nanjing puppet government of Wang Jingwei. He was assassinated in Shanghai in 1940.
